U.S. One Health Leader Responds to Previous Opinion NEWS Commentary of January 4, 2013: “Advance One Health or... Impede One Health? – An opinion”   “Well said...!   Over the last decade, due to the interconnectivity provided by the internet and social media, peoples expectations have dramatically changed. The new standard is that everyone expects to get the chance to participate.  The 20th century, classic business and organizational structure is starting to be viewed as territorial, defensive and as an impediment to innovation, collaboration and progress.   We are at the beginning of a new era.  Very exciting!!  But it is definitely going to take some practice and experimentation for everyone to get the hang of putting their ego (or their organization/agencys ego) on hold and truly collaborating with other groups or individuals.”     Mary Echols, DVM, MPH http://www.doh.state.fl.us/environment/medicine/One_Health/OneHealth.html Former One Health Newsletter Editor Palm Beach County Health Department Environmental Public Health 800 Clematis Street, 4th floor West Palm Beach, FL 33401 (USA)  Mary_Echols2@doh.state.fl.us (561) 837-5927   Dr. Echols is a longstanding, extraordinary leader in the international One Health movement.  Since its inception, she has served with distinction on the One Health Initiative team’s Honorary Advisory Board http://www.onehealthinitiative.com/advBoard.php.
