Physician Editor of Missouri Medical Association Journal (USA) Joins One Health Initiative Team’s Honorary Advisory Board   The One Health Initiative Autonomous pro bono team is delighted to announce that Dr. John C. Hagan http://www.discovervision.com/kansas-city/john-c-hagan-m-d.htm, a physician editor and ophthalmologist, has graciously accepted becoming a member of the team’s Honorary Advisory Board http://www.onehealthinitiative.com/advBoard.php on May 5, 2014.  The One Health Initiative Honorary Advisory Board was established in 2010 and has 33 distinguished members from within the U.S. and worldwide.  Dr. Hagan is the Editor of  Missouri Medicine: The Journal of the Missouri Medical Association and a prominent Kansas City, Missouri ophthalmologist, the founder of the Midwest Eye Institute of Kansas City, Inc.  Interestingly, among other career accomplishments, he also served as a consultant to the TV series CSI Miami (CBS), Bones (Fox) and Rizzoli & Isles (TNT) 2010-2013. As editor of the Journal of the Missouri Medical Association, Dr. Hagan published a landmark One Medicine [now called “One Health” in early 21st century international vernacular] issue http://www.onehealthinitiative.com/publications/OneMedicineBook.pdf in May/June 2013.  This significant publication was subsequently recognized and praised by a representative of the One Health Initiative team in a letter-to-the-editor http://www.onehealthinitiative.com/publications/One_Health_Correspondence_JulyAugust2013_MoMed.pdf in the July/August 2013 issue. Working with other One Health activist members of the Missouri State Medical Association, Dr. Hagan helped encourage the association to initiate and adopt a “One Health” resolution on April 6, 2014 whereby Missouri became the third state medical association in the United States to do so, following Florida (July 31, 2011) and Massachusetts (December 2011).  Prior to these events, the American Medical Association unanimously approved a One Health resolution http://www.onehealthinitiative.com/publications/AMAResolution530a-07-OneHealth-Final62507.pdf in June 2007 calling for increased collaboration between the human and veterinary medical communities.   Dr. Hagan is listed as a supporter/advocate on the One Health Initiative Supporter list http://www.onehealthinitiative.com/supporters.php.
