Thomas J. Fogarty, MD said, “We don’t spend enough time teaching people how to think rather than what to think,”

Six-plus decades after its invention, the Fogarty catheter is used hundreds of thousands of times a year around the world in vascular, cardiac and thoracic surgeries. According to the American College of Surgeons and Fogarty Innovation, a nonprofit he founded, it remains the most widely used catheter for removal of blood clots and is credited with having saved an estimated 20 million lives globally.

Think about how to think ...

It is time to think about dropping fixed intellectual boundaries (“silos”) in public health and clinical biomedical health research:

 “One Health is the collaborative efforts of multiple disciplines working locally, nationally, and globally to attain optimal health for people, animals, plants and our environment.”
