American Association of Public Health Physicians (AAPHP) President Endorses One Health

"Babies born today will be 88 years old in 2100.  Will we leave them a healthy planet with a diversity of species of animals and sufficient food sources?  At current usage rates, the fossil fuels that developed nations use to fill basic needs (food production, transportation, and housing) for approximately one billion people will likely be depleted.  With climate change, we also face human and animal health challenges from spreading insect vectors, and increasingly hostile habitats for many of the plants, animals and fish we currently depend upon for food.  Evolving pathogenic microbes remain a constant threat.   No one discipline can solve these problems. We must work together.  The One Health Initiative can help make a better future for our children and is very much needed.”
