The Center for One Health Research at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is delighted to host the 2025 One Health One Future Conference at the Wedgewood Resort in Fairbanks Alaska this May 28-30. This conference is expected to be the largest circumpolar One Health Conference held in the United States in 2025, with participation anticipated from across the Arctic region and beyond.
We will celebrate the amazing work in One Health with each of the three days dedicated to a topic/theme. This year, we will focus on "Ethical Research and Co-production of Knowledge," (Wednesday May 28), "Current Issues and Topics in One Health," (Thursday May 29) and "Indigenous Health and Wellness" (Friday May 30).
Along with important One Health presentations on topics such as permafrost thaw, pollution in the Arctic, antimicrobial resistance, toxicology on moose, and communities of practice, Dr. Rohini Roopnarine from St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine will speak virtually on a panel on multidisciplinary education and One Health (May 28, title forthcoming).
In addition to our wonderful research and project presentations and posters, we will be hosting an Alaska Native Blanket Exercise, tours of the Permafrost Tunnel Research Facility and Georgeson Botanical Gardens, a Large Animal Research Station (LARS) and Wildland Fire walk, and a Wildlife Refuge and Plant medicine walk. There will also be an Indigenous film screening event focused on salmon (May 28) and a reception (May 29).
