The Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries of Denmark, in collaboration with WHO/Europe, is hosting the international One Health Conference under the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU).

The Conference aims to inspire EU Member States to adopt and implement a unified and holistic One Health approach to address complex health issues arising from interactions among humans, animals and the environment.

The Conference will bring together government officials, policy-makers, academia, civil society organizations and other stakeholders to:

• explore and identify good practices on applying a One Health approach;
• promote shared understanding, exchange of knowledge and experience, aligned strategies, and coordinated action on One Health implementation; and
• strengthen the implementation of a One Health approach within EU Member States through more substantial alignment among human, animal and environmental health policies and practices.

About One Health

One Health is an integrated, unifying approach that aims to sustainably balance and optimize the health of people, animals and ecosystems. It recognizes that the health of humans, domestic and wild animals, plants, and the wider environment (including ecosystems) is closely linked and interdependent.

The approach mobilizes multiple sectors, disciplines and communities at varying levels of society to work together to foster well-being and tackle threats to health and ecosystems. It addresses the collective need for clean water, energy and air and safe and nutritious food; promotes action on climate change; and contributes to sustainable development.
