Landmark Global Health/One Health Book Author Speaks out Again...
On January 4, 2016, George R. Lueddeke, PhD - Consultant Education Advisor in Higher & Medical Education, http://www.onehealthinitiative.com/publications/221215%20GL%20Short%20Bio.pdf and author of “Global Population Health and Well-Being in the 21st Century: Toward New Paradigms, Policy, and Practice” (copyright 2016) wrote to the One Health Initiative team/website:
“The UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development has certainly raised awareness about global priorities from 2016 - 2030 and beyond. But these need to be continually reinforced at all global and national societal levels. The U.S. President's Proclamation in April 2015 https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2015/04/06/presidential-proclamation-national-public-health-week-2015 for the American Public Health Association (APHA) is noteworthy especially its emphasis on leaving "our children a safer, healthier, more prosperous world," recognising that "America's public health is deeply tied to the health of our environment," and its aim to shift "the focus of our country's health care system from sickness and disease to wellness and prevention." All of these are of course inherent in the One Health mission or philosophy.
One of my hopes for the book is that it will be perceived at least as one of the useful catalysts for stimulating discussion in various public learning environments - formal and informal- and thereby helping to achieve some of the goals outlined by policy-makers etc...”
Dr. Lueddeke previously said [December 23, 2015], “—“While writing the book and now, ‘One World, One Health’ is the only plausible way forward for our planet and people...”.
NOTE: Dr. Lueddeke’s book is included among the highly recommended pertinent “One Health” textbook references listed in the One Health Initiative website’s ‘Animal Diseases & Humans’ Homepage sidebar item link
