A Viewpoint
Historically, seeing the world through a separate prism [“thinking outside the box” and “marching to the beat of a different drummer”], the One Medicine-One Health movement has been led by a significant cadre of extraordinary people, scientists, organizations, and institutions, during the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. The leaders identified in this One Medicine-One Health movement publication were—and some still are—literally active beacons of hope for efficaciously advancing the modern One Health movement worldwide, breaking down existing tribalism barriers, foiling the creation of narrow scientific siloes harboring superiority intolerance and thwarting those few seeking self-aggrandizement. Essentially, it is indeed apparent that "the better angels are prevailing."

Notably, a potent American resource of talented and dedicated One Health advocates includes the longstanding American Veterinary One Health Society (AVOHS) founded by James H. Steele, DVM, MPH, the doyen of veterinary public health. AVOHS (formerly American Veterinary Epidemiology Society-AVES) has been active since 1964.
Chronologically, the One Health Initiative Autonomous pro bono Team [commonly known as the One Health Initiative (OHI) team] documented the context of this perspective incorporating bona fide accomplishments, deemed to be pertinent, through the original OHI website followed by the updated current One Health Initiative website; this has been operational since October 2008. To date, Major International Search Engines List the One Health Initiative website 1st on their 1st page.
Recently the One Health Initiative team published further commentary for establishing awareness, recognition of, and appreciation for the One Health concept/approach and One Health issues, i.e., via the Official Journal of The World Medical Association, Inc. Nr. 1, April 2023, Vol. 69 with an interview with a Co-founder of the One Health Initiative team, see Pages 7-9 and subsequently in the Official Journal of The World Medical Association, Inc. Nr. 2, June 2023, Vol. 69, ‘One Medicine−One Health’: An Historic Perspective, see Pages 18 -27.
There have been numerous professional scientific journals, books, book chapters and other national and worldwide organizational renditions containing One Health published viewpoints and assessments, evolving into a valid and cogent framework, particularly during the 21st century to date. Lists thereof have been noted in the OHI team’s website, e.g., Animal Diseases & Humans - One Health Initiative and One Health Journals - "Open Access" - One Health Initiative and ... moreover this has been expanded extensively in the One Health Commission website, i.e., Search - One Health Commission:
Cheryl Stroud, DVM, PhD is and has been the innovative Executive Director of One Health Commission since 2013.
An avalanche of reputable worldwide organizational One Health proponents and activists has evolved as evidenced by the notable recent global One Health community’s
8th World One Health Congress in Cape Town - 20 September - 23 September 2024:.

Dr. Mackenzie says, “The Congress went well – over 1400 participants! Our biggest so far. We are now working closely with the Quadripartite to provide a means to disseminate material with them, and this I hope will continue for the next few congresses.”

This and previous Congress meetings heralded a significant transformative global shift, fostering exponential expansion and advancements of the past, current and prospective future One Health achievements and goals. Institutionalizing this critical altruistic paradigm into the fabric of global public health and clinical health care/biomedical research [for humans, animals and the ecosystem we live in] portends unprecedented prospects for “protecting and/or saving untold millions of lives in our generation and for those to come.”
