One Health Commentary: Human Bartonellosis significance and diagnosis
A short popular media news article, published in the Raleigh News and Observer on June 25, 2012 http://www.newsobserver.com/2012/06/25/2151203/sharper-infection-detection.html#storylink=misearch, brought public attention to the significance of Bartonella infection in humans and development of an enhanced diagnostic procedure.
Bartonellosis is an emerging zoonotic disease recently recognized to be prominent in humans as well as animals, interestingly causing a range of abnormalities including cardiac and neurologic disease. Some researchers consider this disease to be a hidden epidemic.
