“The One Health Institute (OHI) is a recently established institute with approximately two years of activity. Since its inception, our primary research focus has centered on elucidating the evolutionary dynamics and donor–recipient networks of antimicrobial resistance genes, phage–host interactions, and the population genetic structure and transmission of zoonotic pathogens at both local and global scales. Shortly after its establishment, the OHI was honored to become an affiliated member of the European One Health Association (EOHA), which brings together leading European institutions working in the One Health domain. Our ongoing research has yielded several notable outcomes. In particular, three of our studies—addressing transmission networks of genes conferring resistance to tetracyclines and macrolides, as well as genome-wide codon usage–driven evolutionary patterns in virulent and temperate phages infecting Listeria monocytogenes—have been accepted for oral and poster presentations at the EOHA Annual Scientific Conference (May 18–20, Madrid, 2026).

Despite its recent establishment, OHI members have already contributed several publications to well-regarded peer-reviewed journals. Our most recent work, focusing on the macrolide resistance gene msrA, has been just published in Frontiers in Microbiology.”

Further details regarding our research activities mission, and vision are available on the OHI website (https://ohi.ug.edu.ge).
