One Health Supporter and Former Extraordinary U.S. Surgeon General Dies
We are sad to report that C. Everett Koop, MD, ScD, former U.S. Surgeon General (1981-1989), died February 25, 2013 at age 96. Dr. Koop, a physician, was a visionary early supporter of the One Health initiative:
In an email message to One Health Initiative Autonomous pro bono team member Thomas P. Monath, MD, dated November 20, 2007, Dr. Koop responded to Dr. Monath affirmatively to being a supporter of the One Health movement by saying...
“...this is just to tell you I am in accord - and have been for a long time - with what you're trying to do and would be very happy to join you on the supporter list [http://www.onehealthinitiative.com/supporters.php] ...”
Sincerely yours,
